Darla Farmer's "BK Killa's Monster Mash"
RECIPE
January 12, 2010

Darla Farmer
Last month Savoire Adore sent us a delicious recipe for Apple Roasted Chicken. In hopes of procuring some other band-approved meals, we put out a call to some of our favorite bands looking for unique, homemade recipes. One of the first to respond was Nashville-based band Darla Farmer, with a recipe they call "Darla Farmer's BK Killa Monster Mash." The title isn't nearly as off-putting as the ingredients: a mix of pre-packed, frozen, and canned foods. It might not be our style, but in the spirit of food individuality, we've decided to share the recipe with all of you. If nothing else, it's good to know when volunteering in a soup kitchen.

Savoir Adore's Apple Roasted Chicken
RECIPE
December 17, 2009

We've been playing Savoir Adore's newest record, In the Wooded Forest, over and over again. The album is almost as addictive as these Red Hot Blue Chips. The sound is a mix of 80's inspired indie-pop, with unashamed nods to the The Smiths and MGMT. The band will be playing a pre-holiday party at Cameo this Friday, December 18th. To go along with the holiday cheer... Savoir Adore shared a secret family recipe with us. The apple roasted chicken dinner is simple and seasonal. Give it a go.
Savoir Adore's Apple Roasted Chicken
Ingredients
Butter
1 Vidalia Onion
1 Apple
Salt, Pepper, Thyme
1 whole chicken

YAH's Maple Syrup Glazed Turkey
RECIPE
November 24, 2009

Take a look at that beautiful bird. It almost looks fake, doesn't it? Like those plastic soda spills and ice cream scoops in tacky furniture shops? Or like it was used for the cover of Food and Wine? It was so stunning that it was difficult for us to mar the perfect image and carve the bird (which we did, somewhat embarrassingly). Underneath that glistening, crispy skin was not a raw mound of flesh (like I was afraid of), but moist, sweet, lemony meat. CONT'D

Gone With The Wind Vegetable Ratatouille
RECIPE
October 9, 2009

Our friends over at Vol. 1 Brooklyn, a book-loving culture blog, recently posted a recipe for ratatouille inspired by Gone With The Wind. Blogger Cara Nicoletti wasn't turned on by the book's love story, but rather, the visual descriptions of food: "yams covered with butter," "buckwheat cakes dripping syrup," ham "swimming in gravy." For late summer veggies on their way out, Nicoletti suggests making a hearty ratatouille. Seasonal and money-saving, the dish keeps for a few days, and, according to the chef, only gets better with time.
GONE WITH THE WIND VEGETABLE RATATOUILLE
Serves 4-6 people
INGREDIENTS:
-1 lb yellow and green zucchini
-1 lb eggplant (you can tell an eggplant is ripe when it leaves a slight indent after you press your finger into it. Make sure it’s ripe, otherwise it can taste like an unripe banana–yech!)

JENA'S GRANDMA KNOWS RICE PUDDING BETTER THAN YOU, MANHATTAN
RECIPE
February 17, 2009

A few weeks ago, Seth, Frankie, our friend Rochelle, and I stopped by Rice to Riches after dinner at Joe’s Shanghai. None of us had been before, and rice pudding seemed like a tasty change of pace. Upon entering, we were overwhelmed with options. Over twenty different types of

About Us
We are young (early 20's) and hungry (for knowledge! music! art! food!) friends living on (or in areas which border) Manhattan. We moved to the city seeking higher education, and an alternative to frat parties and gin buckets. We prefer a bottle of Chianti to a keg, lunches at City Bakery to a dining hall, Joe's to Starbucks, Frankie's Amatriciana to Batali's. Our uniting factor is our love for food. For detailed, personal information, keep reading.
