Without tables or chairs, there is no sitting or loitering. Gimme! Coffee is about one thing: coffee. And not just any coffee. The folks at Gimme are determined to brew beans that "turn people on." According to Gimme, "not all beans are created equal" and this small shop is dedicated to finding only the best:  fairly traded, organic beans from small family farms in Colombia and Mexico. The beans are then roasted in small batches by real people, not machines. Of course, the final touch comes from the baristas who undergo serious espresso education before manning the bar, resulting in finished products which are often presented with artistic flourishes. Arepas are griddle fried corn cakes and a Venezuelan staple that have, thankfully, invaded the East Village and Williamsburg too!  Usually the line outside Caracas means at least an hour wait because, while inexpensive, the arepa making process is not fast food.  Each arepa comes out freshly fried and delicious-- no heat lamps involved. Golden and crispy on the outside, soft and creamy within, the arepas almost don’t need a filling, but Caracas offers plenty of options...
