A few months back I wrote a less than glowing review of BRGR. That disastrous meal was enough to make me give up burgers at lunch time for the next few months. Enough time has passed, however, that I'm willing to give ground-meat another go. After hearing good things from a reliable food consort, I decided to try New York Burger Co. There are two NY Burger locations in Manhattan, and you can rest assured that the quality of meat and bun at this chain far surpasses that of BRGR. CONT'D

Around the corner from where I work (and a ten minute walk from Shake Shack) is brgr. While I would normally prefer a superior burger in exchange for a slight commute, I don't have much time to spare for lunch — they're working me hard at Morpheus— and the non-stop raining puts a literal damper on things. Immediacy is key.
Let me preface this review by saying that I'm not usually a burger-for-lunch person; I don't like to feel weighed down midday. But one day last week, feeling a little hungover and unusually hungry, I was craving a sloppy, delicious, burger. So I decided to try brgr (pronounced burger). CONT'D

Whether you’re stopping by for a hot cup of freshly brewed Metropolitan Bakery coffee (located on-site), or lingering over an afternoon lunch with friends, Farmicia is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of urban life.
The country-chic interior mixes dark oak floors, exposed brick walls, and elegant wooden tables for a casual, yet polished effect. The menu makes good use of organic and local ingredients for simple, New American fare.

In a neighborhood filled with designer showrooms and fancy hotels, the popularity of Bill's Burger proves that everyone likes to dumb it down once in a while. The front room revolves around a generic bar; the back is filled with blue and white checkered-tablecloths and exposed brick. Heinz ketchup as well as both Gulden's and French's mustards adorn the tables. CONT'D

While I like the atmosphere of The Spotted Pig, I don’t like the atmosphere. I like the dodgy, mis-matched, British-pub feel of the place, the obscure kitschy art, the dark woods, the beers on tap, the plants hanging in the window and the creaky staircase that leads to the second floor. I like the idea that you could settle into a back booth on a rainy afternoon, nurse a drink, and not leave for hours. I don’t, however, like the number of people that fill the place up, spill out the door and onto the sidewalk, sandwich themselves into windows, perch on miniature stools, wait in line for the bathroom. About Us
We are young (early 20's) and hungry (for knowledge! music! art! food!) friends living on (or in areas which border) Manhattan. We moved to the city seeking higher education, and an alternative to frat parties and gin buckets. We prefer a bottle of Chianti to a keg, lunches at City Bakery to a dining hall, Joe's to Starbucks, Frankie's Amatriciana to Batali's. Our uniting factor is our love for food. For detailed, personal information, keep reading.
