Top Chef Season one winner Harold Dieterle put his 100k prize money to good use when he opened Perilla in May of 2007. If you haven't heard much about the place it's probably because the restaurant attracts an older crowd with starchy shirts. It's just not that "cool." But if you're into good food, good wine, and good service, you've come to the right spot. CONT'D
From Seth's apple whiskey cocktail (some fall spin on an old fashioned) to the final bites of complimentary peanut butter cookies that arrive with your check, we were in a very happy food place. The scallop appetizer, which comes with hazelnuts, chanterelles, and concord grape sauce, merges a lot of flavors and textures in an unusual and harmonious way — it was one of the best scallop dishes I've had in some time. For an entree, we opted for the special: grilled lamb chops, mashed potatoes, and kale for two. Excellent comfort food, and a generous portion. The meat was cooked perfectly, moist and tender, and loaded with flavor. For dessert, we split the bread pudding sundae with roasted apples, oat cluster and maple ice cream. It was like a really gluttonous breakfast parfait that substituted yogurt for delicious, homemade ice cream.

About Us
We are young (early 20's) and hungry (for knowledge! music! art! food!) friends living on (or in areas which border) Manhattan. We moved to the city seeking higher education, and an alternative to frat parties and gin buckets. We prefer a bottle of Chianti to a keg, lunches at City Bakery to a dining hall, Joe's to Starbucks, Frankie's Amatriciana to Batali's. Our uniting factor is our love for food. For detailed, personal information, keep reading.
