For those who crave the rich flavor of Falai, but are worried about the waistline of their wallets, a compromise can be found in brunch at Soho’s Caffe Falai. Breakfast was meant to be good this past Saturday; it was the weekend, the sky was clear and blue and there was a table to be had out front — without a wait. The café is beautifully decorated in shades of white, giving an airy, fresh feeling to the place.  In fact, more than one person commented on how clean the window-glass was. Caffe Falai’s success is perhaps partially due to its atmosphere, but surely also thanks to the food. CONT'D

The zucchini salad is light and refreshing, the vegetable tossed with ricotta salata, pine nuts and raisins.  The minestrone soup is also highly recommended.  Brunch at the caffe is perhaps most interesting because of the extensive selection of baked eggs; the menu boasts a variety of flavors, none of which cost more than $13.00.  To borrow words from the man sitting at the table besides me, prepare yourself, for “an explosion of flavor in your mouth.”

Hey, I just ate here last night! I really did like the minestrone as well. I will say, the service was a bit iffy: my sister ordered a glass of wine that took forever to come out. It was so late, in fact, that the waitress told her that this glass was on the house... but then, of course, it was on the bill. A good experience altogether, but it fell short of being really nice because of the mediocre service.
