There are a lot of politics surrounding the cupcake craze that has taken over Manhattan, and Sugar Sweet Sunshine is no exception. Run by two former Magnolia employees, these cupcakes don't suffer from overly-sugary frosting or a-bit-dry cake; they are perfect. With cute names like "Ooey Gooey" (chocolate cake with chocolate almond buttercream), "Sexy Red Velvet" and "Sassy Red Velvet" (depending on your frosting preference) and, of course, "Sunshine" (yellow cake with vanilla buttercream), cuteness emanates from this 70's flower-wallpapered bakery...
The bright green of the pistachio cupcake might throw you off, but is a sweet and interesting alternative to the usual chocolate and vanilla options. But don't leave without the pumpkin-- it is the modest and understated all-time-BEST-CUPCAKE-EVER. This cupcake is so good you will forget all of your caloric cares about the cream cheese frosting or the 3 cupcakes you ate previously. With your coffee or iced tea, savor every bite and relax on one of the vintage sofas in this welcoming and low-maintenance bakery. Oh, did we mention the cupcakes are only $1.50... and they deliver? How does Melissa stay in business?!?!

About Us
We are young (early 20's) and hungry (for knowledge! music! art! food!) friends living on (or in areas which border) Manhattan. We moved to the city seeking higher education, and an alternative to frat parties and gin buckets. We prefer a bottle of Chianti to a keg, lunches at City Bakery to a dining hall, Joe's to Starbucks, Frankie's Amatriciana to Batali's. Our uniting factor is our love for food. For detailed, personal information, keep reading.
