Recap: Brooklyn Beer Experiment
June 8, 2009

The first annual Brooklyn Beer Experiment, created by Nick Suarez and Theo Peck, was a hell of a good time. If I could spend every Sunday afternoon like this one I would be a happier person, though probably one with a bigger gut. Food and beer stations lined the room's perimeter, where amateur chefs and homemade beer brewers dished out samples of their beer-based creations. Guest judges sat on the stage and included beer representative from Smuttynose, Brooklyn Brewery, and Bierkraft...
Food judges included Food Network host George Duran and food writer Peter Meehan. In addition to the judges, audience samplers voted on their favorites. The top three contestants received prizes including cash, beer, and discounts from both rulings. Some of our favorite contestants included third prize winning beer boiled peanuts by Catharine Connell and second prize winning black and tan bread pudding with boozy whipped cream by Rachel Crawford. Check out pictures of the event below.

That Squirrel Tail was SO good.
Squirrel Tail was AMAZING!!! They should've walked away with a clean sweep, in my opinion, but I'm glad they got the win from the judges.

About Us
We are young (early 20's) and hungry (for knowledge! music! art! food!) friends living on (or in areas which border) Manhattan. We moved to the city seeking higher education, and an alternative to frat parties and gin buckets. We prefer a bottle of Chianti to a keg, lunches at City Bakery to a dining hall, Joe's to Starbucks, Frankie's Amatriciana to Batali's. Our uniting factor is our love for food. For detailed, personal information, keep reading.
