A truly belgian treat, the croissant-like texture of Thomas DeGeest's wafels will put your mama's waffles to shame.   Sure, American waffles are great-- crispy on the outside, spongy on the inside, and in some cases, even microwaveable!  But there is a reason that we douse our waffles in syrup and butter.  With one bite of a "wafel," you will understand why Europeans often look down on American food culture.  These wafels need no help-- they are rich and flavorful all on their own.

That being said, "dinges" (Belgian for toppings or "whatchammacallits") are available for those who shudder at the sight of a naked wafel.  They are varied but simple enough not to distract from the main event.  From fresh fruit to dulce de leche, the dinges can take your wafel from breakfast to an indulgent dessert.  The "smokin' Joe's pulled pork BBQ wafel" is a savory alternative, while the "liege wafel" satisfies the biggest sweet-tooth craving with "sugar pearls and carmelized flavors."

The "mini wafelini" is available on a stick, making it the perfect to-go treat from the truck (currently located at the corner of 22nd St and 7th Ave due to mechanical failures).  Wafels and Dinges can also be found at either location of The Bean Coffee & Tea.  And, of course, we appreciate any food company that has their own blog.
