Mama’s is a good example of how to eat out and still save money.  This recession-friendly spot is like the high school cafeteria you always wanted, inviting you to bring your own beer, and blasting Weezer.  Flannel shirt, beanie clad guys serve whopping portions of homemade basics like fried chicken, meatloaf, and grilled salmon, in addition to

a slew of sides including mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and green beans.  The portions are enough to feed at least two hungry hipsters, so definitely split or take Mama home with you.  Mismatched tables and chairs are first come, first take. There is no pressure from servers to order dessert or make room for the next seating, because neither servers nor seating times exist.  Without a waiter breathing down your neck, Mama’s is a great spot to meet friends, eat some hearty food, and linger.  Sometimes the food isn’t piping hot, in which case a communal microwave is at your service. After all, you wouldn’t complain to Mama, would you?
